I made this short story for the New York Times Tiny Memoir Competition, and I want to share it elsewhere. Enjoy.

Kid Safe Scar

Ten years ago, when I was a five year old juvenile homo sapiens, we bought a pair of Crayola scissors. Perfect for little hands like mine, they advertised that they were kid safe. My little brother then decided to test that theory.

"Hey, look at these new scissors! They say they're kid safe and won't cut you! Let's put that to the test."

He then proceeded to demonstrate the "safety" of the product by cutting a small flap in the skin on my left forearm, leaving a scar on my unblemished skin. That kid safe scar is still visible to this day.
